How to Crochet a New Year's Hat: Free Pattern!
Have a cute souvenir from New Year's Eve?
Do you have a wearable souvenir from New Year's Eve? Cool!
Did you just get a hat or glasses, or did you get a stuffed animal too? If you got the stuffed animal, chances are that the hat you wore is too big for it!
Want something to go with your cute new years stuffed animal?
Here's a simple and FREE hat crochet pattern for you!
I used size G hook, with light blue yarn to represent New Year's, but purple, white, and silver will also suffice. I tend to crochet very tightly, so if you are a loose crocheter, I suggest a smaller hook and a thicker yarn!
The yarn I used here is a heavier weight than what I used for the toy top hat (you can find the pattern for that to the right and below! Enjoy!), so I think that's why it looks stiffer. I would suggest a thicker yarn for you if you want the same result. Good luck and have fun! =) Done in single crochet.

Alternate Hat Pattern
Here is an alternate hat pattern. This will create just a different bill of the hat. It's up to you! This looks different slightly in that it turns upward or is more straight than the one I chose above. Here's how:

New Year's Hat Accessories
The picture is of a hat I did for the year 2012. (Can you believe it's been 6 years now!)
I single crocheted the year 2012 into the front of the hat for more decoration. I did not, however, write down any instructions as I did it. To be honest, I didn't think it would turn out so well! If you want directions for the numbers, let me know. I'm sure I can go back and count for you.
That is tin foil sticking out of the top of the hat. I did not have any shiny streamers, colored tinsel, or glittery anything, so I cut strips of tin foil, twisted them together on one end, and then stuck it through the top of the hat. A simple stitch or two will keep it in place, or even a strategically placed staple will do the same. =)
Please answer my poll! =D I'd love to hear from you!
